About Cedrus Montessori

Learning Through Play

At Cedrus Montessori, we believe every child carries within them the potential to grow into a capable, curious, and compassionate person.

Our classrooms follow the authentic Montessori method, giving children the freedom to explore, discover, and learn at their own pace.

Our story

Why we're called Cedrus

Cedrus is the Latin name for the cedar. A cedar starts as a tiny seedling and grows slowly, roots first, into one of the strongest and longest-living trees there is.

That's how we see the early years. Children need deep roots before they reach upwards: security, independence, curiosity and kindness, built at their own pace. It's why our classes are named after growing things, and why our school sits in a garden.

What sets us apart

Why Choose Cedrus

Bilingual French & English

Children absorb French and English naturally through daily conversation, songs, and stories during the years when language comes most easily. They grow up comfortable in both languages and open to the wider world.

Certified Montessori Teachers

Our teachers are trained in the Montessori method and skilled at observing each child’s needs and interests. They guide rather than direct, helping every child take the next step when they are ready.

Small Groups

We keep our classes small so every child receives individual attention and care. This allows teachers to truly know each child and support their unique path.

Garden-Based Creative Learning

Our garden is an extension of the classroom, where children plant, water, observe, and harvest. Learning outdoors builds patience, responsibility, and a deep respect for nature.

Didactic Montessori Activities

Our hands-on Montessori materials turn abstract ideas into concrete experiences children can touch and explore. From counting beads to sandpaper letters, every material is designed to teach through discovery.

Daily Outdoor Activities

Children spend time outside every day running, climbing, exploring, and breathing fresh air. Outdoor play strengthens their bodies, sharpens their senses, and lifts their spirits.

Art and Craft

Through painting, drawing, modelling, and crafting, children express their ideas and feelings freely. Creative work builds fine motor skills, imagination, and pride in making something of their own.

Drumming and Dancing

Rhythm and movement are woven into our week through drumming and dance, celebrating Ghanaian culture and the joy of music. Children develop coordination, listening skills, and confidence as they move and play together.

Our teachers

A lead teacher and a Maîtresse in every class

Each class is led by a qualified, Montessori-certified teacher, working alongside a French teacher who joins the children's work, songs and stories. In the afternoons, club teachers bring cooking, movement, art, sport and stories.
